Did you ever stop to think about how your fears, worries and anxieties seem to follow the stresses of your life? It’s like our shadow that we may or may not notice on a sunny day. The “shadow side” of our emotions is something we can ignore, but only for a time.
I’ve received two emails this week that ask ‘what can I do about my fears?’ Both writers mention feeling ‘stuck’ in life, but don’t seem to associate that with their anxieties or with panic attacks they may be suffering. However, my own experiences have taught me to pay close attention to my feelings and emotions and not to ignore my shadow side.
When we try to bury or ignore powerful feelings of frustration, anger or hopelessness, it can temporarily relieve us of the need to make decisions and choices as to how to resolve those issues. But, it only works for a time. The shadow is still there, whether or not we see it. For those of us prone to anxiety, those powerful feelings will always surface and may erupt like lava spurting from a volcano.
As you tackle your fears, you must also tackle that ‘stuck’ feeling. The first step is always realizing that YOU are important, too. Your feelings provide powerful measures of how you are living your life. If your stresses begin to mount, it is time to make some new choices. You are the leader of your thoughts and you always have choices about your life. Not always easy choices, but nevertheless, by empowering yourself as the leader of your life, you can begin to think…what CAN I do as opposed to what CAN’T I do? Even in difficult situations, only you are in charge of how you think and react.
If things aren’t working out for you, try getting peaceful, taking time out for reflection and asking for guidance and clarity from the highest sources. As you become who you were meant to be and more in tune with your own life, you will find your shadow side shrinking. As your light shines to higher levels, that shadow gets smaller and smaller. You then begin to feel happier, more peaceful and attract more of the same to you.
